CavFanatic Community Guidelines

This is YOUR Community

The CavFanatic community is meant for YOU... the fans! You make the site what it is, so embrace it and get involved. With that being said, there are two general rules of thumb that we expect you to follow:

Below you will find some simple guidelines that we ask you to follow in order to ensure that the CavFanatic community runs smoothly. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. We are here to help and make the experience better.

There’s a Line, Don’t Cross It

We do encourage free speech and defend everyone's right to express unpopular points of view; however, we ask that everyone will not use this community to post any material which is:

Copyrights

Don’t post any copyrighted material unless the copyrighted material is owned by you. This includes copy and pasting online articles or posting material from paid services such as ESPN Insider.

Moderators

Don’t create posts discussing moderator actions. The community is controlled by us… the Admins. We do, however, have many fan moderators that assist us. These fan moderators are not paid and do this during their own free time. So needless to say, cut them some slack. If you have an issue with how we moderate, tell us what we’re doing wrong by sending an email to webmaster@cavs.com.

We Hate Spam

Like you, we hate spam. So we ask that you don’t repeatedly post the same or similar content or post any identical message more than one time or in more than one forum. We also ask that you don’t post pointless or repetitive messages only to boost post count and earn points. Seriously, it’s just plain annoying.

Don’t Be a Troll

Don’t "troll" the community. In Internet terminology, a troll is someone who intentionally posts derogatory or otherwise inflammatory messages about sensitive topics in an established online community such as an online discussion forum to bait users into responding. They may also plant images and data on networks that others may find disturbing in order to cause confrontation.

Harassment

Don’t "flame" other members. Flaming is the act of sending or posting messages that are deliberately hostile and insulting, usually in the social context of a discussion board on the Internet. Remember, it comes down to respect.

Multiple Accounts

You cannot register and utilize more than one account per person in this community or assist (in any way) or encourage others to do this.

Tooting Your Own Horn… Really?!?

With the exception of posting within the Market Place forum, we ask that you don’t post blatant and self-serving advertisements OR solicit money from other Fanatics.

Site URL No-No

Don’t include objectionable words or phrases in your site URL.

Filters

Don’t attempt to avoid our profanity filters by posting alternate spellings or variations of words with symbols / characters. You’re not fooling anyone.

Sharing

Don’t post third-party content that contains strong, vulgar, obscene or otherwise harmful language. This includes posting videos or links to other sites that may contain this type of content.

Outside These Walls

With all the new ways to stay connected with one another (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, message boards, etc.), we ask that you don’t abuse this community or those that are a part of it while utilizing these sites.

We Are Watching You

Always remember that, although we cannot review the content posted prior to going live, we do actively monitor the contents of what is posted. We are however, not responsible for any of the content posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of the CavFanatic community or any entity associated with the CavFanatic community. We have the ability to remove objectionable content and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

If we do catch you in violation of these guidelines, we reserve the right to delete, move, or edit any content for any reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for your content, and you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s). We reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you. We also reserve the right to ban your use of this community if you are held in violation of any of the above guidelines or of the spirit of these Terms of Service. We will be the sole and final judge of any disciplinary actions taken with regard to the community guidelines.
